ALEXEI L. RYBNIKOV

 

Alexei L. Rybnikov, composer, was born in 1945. He graduated with distinction from Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in the class of Composition. Aram Khachaturian was his professor. Mr. Rybnikov is a member of Union of Composers and Film Makers of Russia. His popularity begun in the cinema. He created music for more than one
hundred films and television productions and was honored by several prestigious awards..

Mr. Rybnokov’s most successful work for musical theaters include The Star and Death of Joaquin Murieta, Yunona and Perhaps, The Liturgy of the Named. In 1999 Moscow City government established the Theater of Alexei L. Rybnikov.

Mr. Rybnikov is a People’s Actor and a Distinguished Fellow of the Arts of Russian Federation, a laureate of several social and international prizes. For his nationally important work he was awarded with the Order of the Eagle of the First Degree.

In 1993 Mr. Rybnikov was awarded with the Cinema Prize for the best musical score for the film The Star and Death of Joaquin Murieta.

Alexei Rybnikov is a member of the President of Russia’s Board of Culture and Arts and the Committee for Moscow Government Awards. He lives and works in Moscow.
