Academy Student Graduates with Honors

Angela Geracci graduated from South Grand Prairie High School on June 6, 2009. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and in the top 10 students in a class of 680. Honors: Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Great Texas Scholars member, top calculus student and National Society of High School Scholars. She was also involved in the yearbook staff and Ready, Set, Teach! Internship program.

Angela stated in one of her college essays, "I attribute much of my academic success to the training, rigorous pursuit of high standards I have experienced under the instruction of Ms. Yelena and Mr. Vetrov. I early on developed the organizational skills needed to achieve both academic and ballet accomplishment. Ms. Yelena taught me dedication and persistence. I always felt her confidence in my ability to grow and achieve great things. My dedication and persevering attitude towards ballet training paralleled my academic pursuits. Ballet training taught me to work rigorously, push through trials and challenges to achieve my highest level of abilities. My training and persistence was rewarded by achieving roles as a student in both MBA productions and roles in company productions at Bass Hall and UTA. I applied the same principles to my academic studies and have achieved top honors. I have received acceptance to all the universities I have applied to. I have chosen to attend the Honors College at the University of North Texas in pursuit of a professional degree as a Masters level Speech Language Pathologist. I would like to keep my dance skills in classes at the university and possibly continue in a studio as my studies allow.”

Angela was a member of the Metropolitan Ballet Academy from 2001 until this month when she completed the Academy program and mastered the Academy Russian Vaganova syllabus.
