TWO NEW DANCERS FROM RUSSIA JOIN METROPOLITAN CLASSICAL BALLET

ARLINGTON, TEXAS - Metropolitan Classical Ballet's Artistic Directors, Paul Mejia and Alexander Vetrov are pleased to announce the addition of five new members to the company bringing the total number of dancers to nineteen. The Company is valued for the excellent talents and strong personalities of its dancers, many of whom are Russian trained and excel in classical bravura dancing. Two of the new dancers, Svetlana Kuzyanina and Vadim Yarulin, recently arrived from Russia

Svetlana Kuzyanina, born in Saratov, Russia, graduated from the Saratov Ballet Academy. She formerly danced with the Theater of Classic Ballet of Smirnov-Golovanov, the Moscow State Academic Music Children's Theater, and the Ballet Theater of Lilia Sabitova. Ms. Kuzyanina has also toured with companies in many countries. She frequently performs with Vadim Yarulin.

Mr. Yarulin was born in the Ukraine. A graduate of the Perm State Honored Choreographic School, he is the recipient of several distinguished awards. He was formerly the leading male dancer of the Tartar Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet in the city of Kazan. He bears the title of Honoured Artist of Tatarstan. He has also danced with the Moscow Russian National Ballet Theater, the Moscow State Academic Music Children's Theater as well as the Russian Ballet Crown Moscow Theater.


 

Other additions are Shea Johnson, who appeared with the company in several performances last year, and new apprentices, Natasha Ashton and Madelaine Boyce, both graduates of the Metropolitan Ballet Academy, the official school of Metropolitan Classical Ballet.

All five new dancers will perform with the company when it opens its ninth season with a dynamic mixed repertory program at the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth on September 13th at 8:00 PM. Mr. Mejia and Mr. Vetrov chose four exciting and diverse works to open the season: Saint-Leon's Markitenka, Michel Fokine's Spectre de la Rose, Paul Mejia's Hamlet and George Balanchine's The Four Temperaments. The Metropolitan Classical Ballet Orchestra under the direction of Ron Spigelman will provide the musical accompaniment.
